OS Overview maps of Peaks, Lakes, Dales and Lleyn

Today we begin to experience with Ordnance Survey Opensource Maps, posting overview maps of the Lake District, Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and Lleyn Peninsula

Scarborough Castle

The headland at Scarborough is an ideal site for a castle and has been the site of a Norman castle and a Roman fort.

Brown rat

The Brown rat is one of the most common mammals on the planet. It is also known as the common rat, sewer rat, Norway rat (although this is misnomer as the rat didn't evolve in Norway), wharf rat and the Hanover rat.

Ascent of Helm Crag/ Lion and the Lamb

Our 55th walk in the Lakes begins with the classic ascent of Helm Crag from Grasmere, before continuing on to Calf Crag and returning down Far Easedale.
